{Review} Tamed by Emma Chase

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.

It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.

When I met Dee I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special—I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.

You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn't where we ended up.

It’s how we got there.

Emma went and pulled a dick move with this one!! And what I mean by this, is I can't decide which asshole I love better or which one I would want to hold prisoner in between my thighs...

Matthew is a lot like Drew but not as stubborn or pigheaded. He is like the nicer of the two evils but he was just as hilarious and his story was just as wonderful. I loved being inside his mind and loved seeing all the nasty stuff he liked to do... I was definitely not disappointed! I was tempted to do the whole one-handed reading thing for a couple of those parts because ~ahem~ it was HOT!! (ok maybe I DID do the whole one-handed read... ;)

While reading Tangled, I knew I was going to love Dee because of how crazy, obnoxious, and hilarious she was in that book and we get a lot of that same behavior from her in Tamed but even better. She's crazy, smart, opinionated but very vulnerable where it matters. She doesn't take shit from anyone but she also had a lot of bad luck in the past when it came to men in her life. She's closed off and Matt just wants to open her up in both the heart and vagina... ok maybe her brain too but let's be real here, Matt is a man and men usually have one track minds...

But he was patient and persistent and it didnt hurt that he was built like a lean boxer with abs for days... My vagina's sweating just picturing him, so if Dee didn't steal him, I would have!!

I really loved how Emma went back to the parts of Tangled that always had me wondering what was going on with Matt and Dee. I only wish I would have refreshed my memory with Tangled before diving into Tamed. People don't need to do this because the books are standalones but if you have poor memory like me, then it won't hurt!

So the inevitable question is what the heck do I rate this book and my answer is simple... This book deserves 5 "hilarious, sexy, and one handed read" Stars!!!

Now, here is a little sneak peek into the crazy, sexy, ride that is Tamed...

She puts on the helmet, but doesn’t climb on the Ducati right away. She stands on the sidewalk, hands on her hips, looking thoughtfully at it. “What would you say if I said I wanted to drive your motorcycle to the party?”
“I’d say you’re shit out of luck. I don’t ride bitch.”
She knocks me upside the head—but my helmet softens the blow. “Then let me take it for a ride myself. Just around the block.”
“I . . .don’t think so.”
She pouts.
I sigh. “Have you ever driven a motorcycle before?”
“No, but I’ve always wanted to.”
“Well, I’ve always wanted to fly, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna strap on a squirrel suit and skydive from the god damn Empire State Building.”
She steps closer, and rubs her placating hands up my chest. “Come on, please? I’ll be really careful and grateful. Really grateful. Like . . .deviantly, let you handcuff me to the bed, kind of grateful.”
Forget the national broadcast system—this is the test. Am I going to stick to my man-guns, keep my pride, and protect my cherished vehicle from almost certain carnage? Or, am I going to be ruled by my dick and swayed by the promise of kinky, have-Dee-at-my-mercy-all-night-long, sex?
No contest.

“Riding bitch, it is.”

If you want to read it for yourself there is a little link below you can press and get it now!! If you LOVED Tangled then you will LOVE Tamed too...

{Review} Flat-Out Celeste by Jessica Park

For high-school senior Celeste Watkins, every day is a brutal test of bravery. And Celeste is scared. Alienated because she’s too smart, her speech too affected, her social skills too far outside the norm, she seems to have no choice but to retreat into isolation.

But college could set her free, right? If she can make it through this grueling senior year, then maybe. If she can just find that one person to throw her a lifeline, then maybe, just maybe.

Justin Milano, a college sophomore with his own set of quirks, could be that person to pull her from a world of solitude. To rescue her—that is, if she’ll let him.

Together, they may work. Together, they may save each other. And together they may also save another couple—two people Celeste knows are absolutely, positively flat-out in love.

Whether you were charmed by Celeste in Flat-Out Love or are meeting her for the first time, this book is a joyous celebration of differences, about battling private wars that rage in our heads and in our hearts, and—very much so— this is a story about first love.

As I sit here reflecting back on this book, I really have no idea how to describe it accurately and sufficiently enough for me to be satisfied. I felt so many different emotions while reading that I didn't know what was up, down, or in-between!

So here goes nothing...

When I first started this book, I literally wanted to drive to NH and yell at JP and then have a few shots to get me through the rest of the book... Shots of chocolate milk of course, don't want the little one coming out wonky... ;)

She told me she'd wait it out when I told her this, so I dove back in to see what the rest would reveal to me and Celeste surely revealed a lot.

There were so many life lessons throughout this story, so many emotions, so many feelings... Celeste and I were in this journey together. With her spunky personality, my total obsession, and Justin's magnetic personality, it was hard NOT to fall in love with them. Through their constant texting, picture images, and emails, they fell for each other in the digital world before ever really meeting.

Justin's quirkiness rivaled Celeste's, but they also seemed to complete one another at the same time. They had a uniqueness to them that was refreshing and adorable. They didn't fit the mold of what society wanted to put them in and pretty much gave a big eff you to societal norms.

I like characters that form their own path and don't try to fit in with the rest of society because I felt a lot of times growing up, I never fit in with anyone. I didn't really have a "place". I liked to sing R&B, rap my favorite hip hop songs, throw on my daisy dukes and belt out some LeeAnn Rimes, swoon over boy bands and then I could rock out with my cock out with the best alternative or rock band.
I also didn't wear what everyone else wore. I wore what I liked and really could give a shit less if it was in style. But at the same time, I wanted to find my own place, somewhere I could belong, be accepted for exactly who I was, not what I did or what I wore. It wasn't until later that I realized, I did have a place and I did fit in because I had a variety of friends, I didn't just belong to one group, but a bunch of different groups.

Celeste was a lot like that, trying to remain true to her character but also trying to find a way to belong and be accepted for exactly who she was. With the help of Justin, she realized exactly what she wanted and figured out that society would just have to be happy with her because she was happy with herself.

I just wish there was more of her and Justin's story and less of Matt and Julie's shenanigans because even though I LOVED the fact that they were both in the story, I wish it wasn't as prominent. I had envisioned Matt and Julie's story one way after the ending of Flat Out Matt and JP completely obliterated the view I had of them so then I wanted more of their story and less of Celeste and Justin's!
Then when I got comfortable with the direction the story was taking me, JP switched it up again and I wanted more of Celeste and Justin. I didn't get enough of them in the end because it was kind of overshadowed by the other turmoil/happy ending happening at the same time. It took me in a weird direction and I wasn't satisfied with the ending, I needed more...
Maybe an Epilogue or even a novella...

Yes, I realize how obnoxiously needy this is but I guess that is what happens when I fall so in love with characters, I can't even see straight!!

If you want to read this incredible series for yourself then look below for the links. You do not have to read the first two if you do not want to but I HIGHLY recommend doing it because it gives you a good foundation of what is happening in FOC...
I give this book a shiny 4 "I love Justin's klutzy self" stars!!!

{Review} Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren

Synopsis

One-night stands are supposed to be with someone convenient, or wickedly persuasive, or regrettable. They aren’t supposed to be with someone like him.

But after a crazy Vegas weekend celebrating her college graduation—and terrified of the future path she knows is a cop-out—Mia Holland makes the wildest decision of her life: follow Ansel Guillaume—her sweet, filthy fling—to France for the summer and just…play.

When feelings begin to develop behind the provocative roles they take on, and their temporary masquerade adventures begin to feel real, Mia will have to decide if she belongs in the life she left because it was all wrong, or in the strange new one that seems worlds away

I have to say when I started this book I was deeply intrigued and LMAO at all the shenanigans going on around the trio of friends. Graduating from college and going on a Las Vegas getaway seems like the perfect escape from it all. When the group of friends meet another group of the opposite sex, it seemed like the perfect match up.
So they did what most people do in Vegas and got drunk together.

Waking up and not remembering much about the night before had it's negatives but everyone took it in stride, until Mia figured out what really happened and freaked out!!

Her entire world gets turned upside down again, but this time it was from her own doing. She has to decide what to do with the situation she is in and where to take it from there. Unfortunately there is no clear cut answer, and on impulse decides to follow her gut and see where it would take her.
When she gets there, she immediately regrets the decision because it is not how she thought it would be. Everything seems great and she is having fun playing with Ansel and even though she doesn't know what her future may bring her, she feels that Ansel will be apart of it...
Of course until one of Ansel's secrets comes out to haunt them...

When Mia went to Paris she had ideals of what it would be like but it grew old rather quickly. After she finds out Ansel's secret she must take everything she has learned about herself and Ansel and decide what is right for her. She has finally learned that her future is her own and she can't let anyone dictate what to do with it...
The decision is finally hers but she must now figure it all out...

I really enjoyed several facets of this book. But there were things that left me scratching my head too. I feel Mia and Ansel used sex too much. I understood Mia wanting to hide behind a facade in order to really express her feelings to Ansel but I felt that they were using sex to either hide or reveal themselves and it didn't work for me. I love sex in a story as much as the next book whore but this was a little much and quite frankly, my hand was getting a little tired ;)...
kidding...
sort of..

Also, I never understood where Mia's father was coming from or why he had such a problem with life or Mia in general. I would have liked to have that explained more to me or even show how Mia's life was before her accident because I didn't get a good sense of who she really was. It said Mia never talked or opened up to anyone but I never saw that about her because she was so candid with Ansel and her friends. It just kept saying she was pretty much a recluse but I didn't get that vibe from her at all. I think I needed to see for myself how Mia changed.

Of course that didn't change my opinion of the story. I still thought it was a fun, sexy, read and even if I didn't get all the information I was looking for, I still recommend it to everyone!!

Overall, I give this story a 4/5 "I want to fuck Ansel" stars and if  you have not read it yet, check it out in the links below...

Kylie Scott returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to international bestseller LICK.

Synopsis
Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl.
Anne Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

My Thoughts

Dear Mal,
You make me want to do a lot of dirty things to you that could possibly be considered illegal in several states... I know this must sound promising to you and I agree.
SO let's meet up sometime...
Love,
The Book Trollop's vagina..

Ok.... Now that my vagina had her obvious, creepy, say in this review... lets get serious for a moment...

I loved this book!!
I LOVED Mal and his completely neurotic and hilarious personality...
He always seemed like this funny, laid back person in Lick but there was sooooo much more to his personality and discovering the levels was like peeling back the layers of an onion. Each new layer revealed a deeper, more complex character but one thing remained true, he had an amazing heart in the center of it all.

He reminded me a lot of the male version of me, AkA my husband. It's probably why I loved Mal so much. The things that he would say would be something my husband would say. I wanted to write Kylie a letter and ask if she has ever met my husband because it was uncanny.

Anne was pretty complex as well. I didn't feel like I really got to know her, even though the story was told in her POV. I don't know what it was but I felt like I needed more of her background to really get a grasp on her character. But it didn't bother me enough to not like the story. In fact, I didn't really notice it until I was looking back at the book trying to write this review.

The overall story was actually a little heartbreaking but I had soooo many damn feels!! I was laughing my ass off, crying, and then laughing again. The story made me FEEL every emotion and that is what really matters to me.
I am 100% sure I loved this book more than Lick....

gasp gif photo: gasp gif tumblr_lila8u9phE1qaa5yh.gif

Yes, SHOCKING, I know...
But it's the truth.
There was something so magical about Mal that just made me love him even more than David. I liked David but I wasn't in love with him like Mal...

If you have not had the pleasure of knowing Mal, then I would get on it. If you loved Lick, then you will LOVE Play even more... But just remember ladies... HE'S MINE!!

Overall, I give this amazing story 5/5 I WANT TO HUMP MAL stars!!! If you would like to be introduced then check out the links below..

{Review} Twisted by Emma Chase

Falling in love is easy. Staying in love is hard. In this heart-pounding follow-up to Tangled by New York Times bestseller Emma Chase, Kate reveals that there is trouble in paradise, when unexpected circumstances force her and Drew to "renegotiate" their relationship.

There are two kinds of people in the world. The ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. Cautious. A planner. That changed after I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself—and of me.

But not all love stories end happily ever after. Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset? Join the club. Now I have to make a choice; the most important of my life. Drew already made his—in fact, he tried to decide for the both of us. But you know that’s just not my style. So I came back to Greenville, Ohio, alone. Well, sort of alone...

What I've come to realize is that old habits die hard, and sometimes you have to go back to where you began before you can move ahead.

My Thoughts... sort of...
Dear Drew,

You are an asshole. And not just any asshole, the kind of asshole where I am not sure if I want to lick your face or kick you really hard in the balls. This is a talent I am sure you are aware of and I am sure you are amused by. You can make woman want to drop their panties or want to find the closest baseball bat. Twisted was no exception to this and I am still not sure whether or not you should have been forgiven for being an immature jackass but I have come to realize that, that is just who you are. Not the immature jackass, ok maybe you are that, but that's not all you are. You just take shit head on and don't stop to think about the consequences of your actions. Its ok, I know its a syndrome of sorts because all men have it. It's called "havingadick" syndrome and sometimes that little head is in control of the bigger, more logical, head and that is where you fuck up.... It's ok, we (meaning woman in general) forgive you, because if not, all woman would be lesbians and then the world's populations would die out and there wouldn't be anymore jackasses like you...

penis gif photo: penis-slugs-brain.gif

I was really upset, angry, and frustrated with both you and Kate because even though I want to blame all this fuckedupness on you, I can't, because she was just as big of an idiot. Assumptions can be the death of any relationship and it is important that both members are on the same page, if not, well, you have one big cluster fuck. It was like a train wreck, I couldn't pull my eyes from because the worse it got, the harder I cringed, the more I wanted to read. When I got to the end of the fuckedupness, I was relieved to be back in your head, no offense to Kate, but I enjoy your mind so much better because the vulgarity rivals my own and I feel like I am inside my own head... Well, except, I have a vagina and not a penis...
But you get the point...

Overall, you pissed me off, made me want to throw things, and then you made me extremely horny... I was between every emotion and I felt all the frustration, which leads me to your creator. I wasn't sure where she was going to take this story because, I mean, we got the happily ever after with Tangled but I knew there would have to be some drama because it would have been a snooze fest if not. Drama makes things interesting. Even if I wanted to cunt punt Emma for driving me effing crazy with this story, I was amused at the same time. And she gets major Kudos for that...

cheers gif photo: cheers.gif

Well, thats about it for this lovely letter to Drew/review of Twisted... I hope you keep yourself in line for the future Mr. Evans and make sure you always keep that lovely mouth of yours dirty...

Sincerely,
The Book Trollop....

I give this story a very big, solid 4/5 stars and I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series...

From the author of the New York Times bestsellers Slammed, Point of Retreat, Hopeless, This Girl, and Losing Hope, Maybe Someday is destined to become another bestseller and long-lasting fan favorite

My Thoughts

Dear Colleen Hoover,

You. Are. Amazing!

I didn't think I could love a book more than Hopeless and Losing Hope and then you create an experience like Maybe Someday and I am literally at a loss for words... I say an experience because Maybe Someday is more than just a book that I picked up and read, it's an experience that embedded itself into my heart and soul and when I came out on the other side, I was ripped to shreds, but God, it felt so good.

I felt every emotion these characters felt.
I was in knots, insanely sad, heartbroken, satisfied, thrilled, excited... I was living this book alongside these characters and just when I couldn't take much more, I took a chapter break. I needed a time out because the tears weren't allowing me to see the pages. With my vision blurry, my heart aching, I was cussing you out for being such an evil creative genius. I am so glad you decided to publish a book to give to your family for Christmas because without doing that, you would have done the world a severe disservice!

I loved each and every character in this book. I fought alongside Ridge and Sydney, I was laughing and joking with Warren and Bridgette. I wanted to put Maggie inside my pocket and protect her from the evil that was bestowed upon her but at the same time ,I wanted the other situation to work out the way I wanted it to, too.

I really didn't think this book was going to turn out the way it did, I wasn't expecting it. I tried to stay away from teasers and other reviews of this book because I wanted my mind completely blank before diving in. I had the gist of what this book was going to be about and my gist was wrong because it was just so much more than what my mind could ever have conjured. I honestly wish I would have waited to listen to the soundtrack so I could have experienced the songs for the first time through Ridge and Sydney.

With that being said, when I threw on my headphones, closed my eyes, and listened to the words that were being sung to me... I never experienced anything like it!
Of course I listen to music while I am reading or heck even while writing reviews, but having the songs being sung while reading them on the pages, took it to a whole other level of genius.
I could shut my eyes and listen to every song on this soundtrack and know what the characters were doing, what they were thinking, what they were feeling and I am getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

I am in serious awe of it all.

You, my dear, alongside Griffin, created something that people are going to experience for a lifetime and I am so glad I got to experience it myself, because it was remarkable! I hope you understand and know how extraordinary your talent is because not many people can even hold a candle to you and I look forward to more from you in the future.

Love,
The Book Trollop

P.S... To anyone reading this weird review/letter to CoHo, I would advise you to do what I did and put your headphones on, drown out the world, and experience these songs through the eyes of Ridge and Sydney but make sure you have your tissues and chocolate ready because you WILL need them!

P.P.S~ I really liked that March 18th date... really clever to have it fall where it did... ;)

As if you guys had any doubts, I give this book 59298439208432908484390 stars!!! I am making numbers up because 5 stars is just not enough for my favorite book of 2014, so far (because I am sure Ugly Love will be another winner for me as well)...

{Review}{Giveaway} Avoiding Amy Jackson by N.A. Alcorn

Synopsis:

Avoiding Amy Jackson (The Infamous Series #2)

Meet Amy Jackson. An outspoken, raunchy, in-your-face, loudly inappropriate ER Nurse who makes a career out of indulging.
One-night stands have always been her thing.
Commitment and relationships are two words that are not in her vocabulary.
Amy doesn't have dreams of soul mates and white picket fences. She adamantly refuses to even consider the idea of getting married and starting a family. She’s also obstinate in allowing a certain physician to get on her good side…
James Williams. A cocky, smug, too-damn-good-looking orthopedic surgeon who has his sights set on the very feisty Amy Jackson. He is more than intrigued and ready to do whatever it takes…
“I want this woman. I’m the type of guy who will fight for what he wants until he gets it. I will take my time with Amy. I won’t rush her. I will continue to slowly slide myself into her life until she realizes that I belong there. And then…I won’t let her go.”

This is Book Two in The Infamous Series

MY THOUGHTS

Dear Mrs. Alcorn,
Can we be best friends??
Love,
The Book Trollop

This is the second book in the Infamous Series by N.A. Alcorn and, so far, it's my favorite.

Avoiding Amy was AHHHH-MAY-ZING!! I was laughing until I was crying, getting irritated with Amy, LOVING James, and I even got a little teary eyed with certain parts... It was all around amazing and the damn thing is covered in highlights from the very beginning to the very end.

While reading, I kept saying "OMG this is my favorite line....ever" then I would read some more and I would say "OMG NO this is the best line EVER.." It continued on until I realized there were a lot of favorite moments, insults, internal monologues that had me laughing until I wanted to puke.

Amy is a very stubborn, vulgar, don't take any shit from anyone, type person but she hides a lot of her deeper feelings behind her sarcastic, vulgar, slutty mask. But in this book we see her change from her slutty ways, to someone who wants to find a deeper connection.

Enter James, he is everything she wants in a man (meaning he is male with a soup can cock). But when he rejects her more than obvious need to fuck his brains out the first night, she turns that lust into angered-filled HATE. This of course, is her mechanism for deflecting her true feelings. She doesn't want to admit, she admires him for turning her twat down when she was less than coherent but it is better to push him away than admit anything, hence the title...
Of course she never counted on James being the master, skilled on patience and time, to get what he wants.

Their eventual friendship is endearing and hilarious, I REALLY LOVED that N.A made them friends first, before anything. But even with their friendship, Amy is still running from him and it is up to James to catch her but even he eventually gets tired of the chase.

I loved that there was more Ellen and Lizzie in this book and it was fun to see the continuing of Dr. Thrust ME and Ellen's relationship. This book is definitely not a standalone, you must read The Infamous Ellen James first, before embarking on the craziness that is Amy...

There really wasn't anything that I did not like in this book, it had every emotion known to man and it made me FEEL it. That is MY definition of a great book, making me FEEL the emotions, even when I want to cunt punt and twat throttle every character in the book, at least aggravation is a feeling that I am sure N.A wanted to elicit.

Plus, the big bonus, is the one handed reading that ensued...
Thanks N.A., my vagina was quite pleased ;)

I give this book a 5/5 and if you have not read this or The Infamous Ellen James then I would get on that, like RIGHT NOW!!!

Below are some teasers and an excerpt to give you a glimpse inside the amazing Avoiding Amy
Teaser...

Excerpt #3

“So is it true what I’ve heard about marines?” I ask nonchalantly.
He cocks his eyebrow inquisitively. “What exactly have you heard about marines?”
“Once a marine, always a marine. I hear you guys even yell out, ‘Oorah!’ during sex.” I try like hell to keep my face devoid of any emotion, especially amusement.
James’s fist slams down onto the table as he lets out a deep laugh. Our coffee cups vibrate from the motion and tiny droplets slide down the side of my cup onto the small, red table. “Uh. No,” he answers through his laughter.
“Never? C’mon. You mean to tell me you’ve never yelled that out during sex? Even when you come?” I wipe the spilled coffee off the table with a beige napkin that proudly displays the shop’s logo.
James’s tickled expression makes me grin.
“God, you’re outrageous, but to answer your question, no. Never. I’m saving it for when I meet the woman of my dreams.” His face beams with hilarity. James unleashes his most impressive megawatt smile and I instantly feel needy for his attention.
A self-deprecating laugh escapes my throat as I try to brush off the unnerving feeling that is occurring inside of me. “You’re good. Really good. I bet you have women throwing themselves at you all the time.” My face immediately flushes red when a particular embarrassing memory comes to mind.
“I don’t turn on the charm for just anyone, Amy,” he states with a determined stare, his eyes piercing into mine.
“That doesn’t seem like a response someone would give to their friend.” He may need sunglasses for the glare I’m giving him.
“Sometimes, with you, I just can’t help myself, but I promise I’ll try to be better.” He holds his hand to his chest, asking for forgiveness.
“I guess I’ll let that one slide, but if it happens again, I can’t make any promises what my reaction will be,” I warn before I finish the rest of my coffee.
