Twisted Ties
K.A. Robinson

Two years ago, Emma Preston walked away from Jesse Daniels. It is a decision she has regretted ever since. Plagued with the knowledge that Ally’s lies tore them apart, Emma enlists Jesse’s former best friend, Andy, to help her search for him.

When he left California, Jesse was determined to start over in West Virginia with his mother. Now, the past is determined to catch up with him—first, with the appearance of Ally, and when Emma and Andy come back into his life.

Just when Emma thinks she’s found Jesse, a dark secret and misunderstandings force them apart before they can even reconnect. Jesse is torn between his love for Emma and protecting his childhood friend, Ally. Ally has an agenda of her own, and she’s not about to let Emma get in her way—even if that means getting rid of her…permanently.

Can Emma and Jesse’s relationship survive all of their twisted ties?

***18+ only for adult content including, but not limited to, sexual scenes, cursing, and extreme violence.***

My Thoughts
This book was not what I was expecting... like...at all!
When Shattered Ties ended, Jesse left, and Emma was heart broken.

When Twisted Ties starts, Emma is with Andy headed to good 'ol West Virginia, to see if  they can "bump" into Jesse while they are there. Emma knows it is a long shot, especially after two years of her trying to find him and finding absolutely nothing. When they get to WV, there is a whole lot more drama waiting for them and shit hits the fan from almost the beginning.

There were twists and turns, along with enough angst to choke an elephant! I wanted to fast forward certain parts because it drove me crazy but I am glad I didn't because I would have missed a lot. I am not going to go into too many details because it would ruin the fun of experiencing the craziness for yourself. And trust me when I say there is a LOT of craziness in this book.

I still loved Jesse, and Emma seemed a lot more confident within herself in this one, which made me happy because it meant she was finally sticking up for herself. We see her relationship with her mother evolve a few times and I wish K.A would have put more of that in the end. I wasn't sure if I believed the crap her mother was spewing or that her mother would just automatically change after knowing Emma was.... well, you'll have to see for yourself when you read it.

I really loved Andy and I hope he finds the right girl to knock him on his ass because I think he deserves happiness after all that went on in this book.

If you loved Shattered Ties, then I would recommend reading Twisted Ties because you need to see how it ends and trust me when I say, it is not how you are expecting!!

Overall, I give this book a 4/5 I love Jesse and Emma stars!!!

Shattered Ties
by
K.A. Robinson

With a former supermodel mother and a rock-and-roll legend father, Emma Preston has the best of everything. Nothing is as perfect as it seems though. After her parents divorce, she’s forced to live with her mother in a private Santa Monica community. Ignoring their parental roles, her mother becomes more focused on climbing the social ladder while her father is off on tour.

Growing up in a trailer park with his mother, Jesse is used to people looking down on him. When his mother begs him to submit an application for a scholarship to one of Santa Monica’s top private schools, he never expects to actually get it. When he does, he is forced to attend school with a bunch of rich kids. He ignores their stares as they judge him for having tattoos and a less than impressive car. As long as he has his surfboard and the guys at the tattoo shop, he knows he can make it through.

When Jesse shows up on the first day of school, Emma can’t help but be intrigued. Her mother would never approve of Emma talking to someone so poor, but she doesn’t care because something about Jesse draws her to him.

Jesse tries to hate Emma, but he discovers that he can’t resist her. Forced to hide their relationship from Emma’s mother and everyone else around them, things start to fall apart. When Jesse’s friend, Ally, decides to interfere, things go from bad to worse.

Can they survive their first love? Or will they be left with nothing more than shattered ties?

Book 1 of a 2 book series.

**18+ for sexual situations, cursing, and adult content.***

My Thoughts

"This boy looked like a fallen angel and a surfer boy all rolled into one, and I wanted to wrap myself around him"

So we have a rich girl with a heart and a poor, smart, surfer boy with an artistic side and an even bigger heart. They seem like an unlikely pair but there is a certain pull that attracts them to one another. But can they redefine the unwritten rules of total opposites and live a happily ever after??

Throughout this entire story it seemed like they were a strong force to be reckon with but there may have been too many obstacles and not enough maturity to make it to the forever.

I would like to say this ended how I wanted it too but unfortunately, it did not.
K.A. could have ended it like she did but I have a feeling she would've had a mob on her hands if she did.
So she was kind enough to leave us with an epilogue that turned the story into a "to be continued".
No guys it is not a cliffhanger, not really, but you will be wanting more and wanting to know what is going to happen next.

If you have read her Torn series then you will know what I am talking about because Torn ends much of the same way.

I really liked this story. It was sweet, sassy, and the banter was funny and endearing. I was hating the rich snobs for being completely ridiculous and also hating a particular girl who shall not be named because I just KNEW she was going to be conniving whore.
I was right.

There were some things that had me saying "WTF really??" and they are the reasons why I could not give this book 5stars...
For instance, I totally LOVED Jesse's mom and she seemed to be the mom every child wishes they had. She sacrificed a lot to raise Jesse by herself, that was admirable and showed how selfless she was.

SMALL SPOILER AHEAD PROCEED WITH CAUTION OR SKIP TO AFTER "WHAT THE WHAT"
But what I didn't get was the fact she pushed Jesse to pursue a scholarship to the rich private school but then when she meets a guy all of a sudden she wants to uproot their entire lives to live with him?? Not only that, she is pretty much telling Jesse, "oh never mind about you bettering your education and doing what I wanted you to do because I finally met someone and I am moving no matter what you say!" She couldn't have waited for Jesse to graduate first before trying to uproot everything to follow a guy she JUST started dating??... Come on... that didn't seem to match her character.

What the what??

Also, the relationship between Jesse and Emma was really fast... Not enough build up for me, I wanted more back and forth, I felt kind of cheated.

But even with those two things I still enjoyed the crazy ride K.A. put me on. I loved the trip to Paris, I absolutely LOVED Emma's dad and his response to finding Jesse with her...
my dad would have ripped the dude's balls off first, then asked questions later...

The steam was effing WHOA but it had me thinking about how the hell Jesse was so skilled???...
Most teenagers do not even know which hole to stick it in and I felt cheated because I didn't experience my first orgasm until I was sexually active for about two years...
Green Eyed Jealousy right here ;)
(TMI?? Ahh hell... Do you not know me by now??)

Overall, I give this book a 4/5 and I cannot WAIT for the next installment. If you love a sweet love story with some drama, angst and an ending that will leave you craving more, then I would pick up Shattered Ties by K.A. Robinson.

Torn by K.A. Robinson

I asked to review this book from Netgalley because the cover caught my attention and it looked like a good read. I was approved and then the rest was history.
I completed this book in a day and I REALLY enjoyed it. Left with a cliffhanger I can't wait to dive into the second installment. BUT I heard there was a third book and I am not good with waiting so I might have to wait and read the second book when the third is closer to coming out..

Anyway, here is what I thought about

Torn by K.A. Robinson

Description:
Chloe hasn't had the best life. With a mother who is gone more often than not, she has had to raise herself. After graduating high school, she leaves to start a new life away at West Virginia University with her best friends Amber and Logan, determined to leave her demons in the past.
On her first day, she meets a stranger who takes her breath away at first sight. Until she met Drake, no one had ever sparked her interest. Now this tattooed and pierced bad boy is all she can think about, no matter how hard she fights it.
Falling for Drake was never part of her plans, but when it happens, things seem to do anything but fall into place.
Dealing with a tragic past, Drake has never cared about anyone else but himself and his band. But when Chloe takes the empty seat next to him in class, things start to change. Instantly drawn to her, he begins to wonder if one girl can take a cold hearted womanizer and change every part of him?
Long hidden feelings are revealed and friendships tested to the brink.

My Thoughts:

So I always say I have to wait and review a series because I have to read all of the books before I can form an opinion on them. But since I asked to review this book before knowing about the cliffhanger and other two books I will forge ahead and review this anyways.

I really liked this book, almost loved it but the angst had me so stressed and rolling my eyes so many times BUT the love between Drake and Chloe had me swooning and wetting my panties so that balanced out the angst for me.

Chloe has never had the best upbringing.
Mother is a drug addict, used to abuse her physically and emotionally, and it did irreparable damage on her self-esteem and self-worth.
With the help of her best friend Amber and her parents, Chloe was able to have a semi-normal life after her mother abandoned her. Logan is also one of her saviors who has been there for Chloe since he walked into her life. But Logan also has been in love with her since then, even though Chloe is completely oblivious.

All three friends end up at the University of West Virginia where Chloe meets Drake. Pierced, tattooed, band playing... Drake... It was LUST at first sight..

"He was silent for a moment, so I glanced up at him and my breath caught at the look in his eyes. They looked as if he wanted to devour me on the spot and I gulped."

Drake and Chloe had an instant attraction to one another but Chloe didn't want to be another notch in his belt and Drake didn't feel good enough for Chloe.
This is where all the angst and stress comes in! They try to stay friends but it never works and they end up crossing the line but do they regret it??

This book was full of angst, love, tears, heartbreak, and characters who still had a lot of growing up to do. I enjoyed reading it and I was left in tears after a couple scenes. It made me sad for Chloe but at the same time I realized she did everything to herself and needed to pull her big girl panties up and stop running away.

"What are you running from, Chloe?" I felt tears slip down my cheeks as I turned to look at him. "You. I'm running from you, and I can't even escape you here."

I will put more information down when I read the rest of the books of this trilogy so this is not the end of my thoughts of Chloe and Drake, you will have to stay tuned and find out later!!

I give this book a 4/5..
