Synopsis
Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…

Ten Tiny Breaths

I stayed up late finishing this book. I was told to read this book and I wouldn't regret it if I did...

Description from Amazon:

Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.
Four years ago Kacey Cleary’s life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, holding her boyfriend’s lifeless hand and listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, twenty-year-old Kacey and her fifteen-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. Struggling to make ends meet, Kacey needs to figure out how to get by. But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle anything—anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D.
Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes, deep dimples, and he perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable and Trent is determined to find a way into Kacey’s guarded heart—even if it means that an explosive secret could shatter both their worlds.

Here are my thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book and I definitely did not regret reading it and I will probably read it again in the future. I loved Kacey!! I am sure that if Kacey was a real person, her and I could be best friends because the things she would say would definitely be something I would say to someone or in a certain situation. She was smart, sassy, sweet, sarcastic and funny as HELL!! There were many times that I would be reading and then bust out laughing, scaring my poor husband out of a dead sleep! Kacey's life is anything but easy, she took on the responsibility of taking care of herself and her teenage sister, moved to Miami, and started a whole new life but the only problem is.. she can't let go of her past and what happened to her family, boyfriend and best friend in that car accident. She dreams about the accident every night to the point where she feels like she is drowning and has to be woken up.
She meets Trent in Miami in the apartment complex that she lives in. She is instantly attracted to him and he seems very attracted to her. The only part of this book that I did not like was how fast the relationship evolved between Trent and Kacey. I think it needed more build up but I still loved them and the curve ball that the author put in the book was NOT expected but I wasn't surprised. It was worth staying up late reading and once you crack this book open you will be sucked right into it!!

I recommend this to anyone!!

Here are some TEASERS from the book...

"She shakes his hand quickly before recoiling as if she might get pregnant with the touch, her eyes avoiding anything to do with his half-open shirt and that gorgeous toned body underneath. I grin inwardly. My chaste Livie." page 76

"I should stalk over there and pee around his table to stake my claim. Wait...What?" page 92

""You hate me, don't you? You must hate me. I can't help it. I'm broken." Trent squeezes me close to him. "I don't hate you. I could never hate you. Give me your heart, Kacey. I'll take everything that comes with it."" page 179

I give this book a 4/5**** and YOU should buy it from Amazon..You will NOT regret it..

Miss Me Not

I saw so many people praising this book that I decided to buy it and see for myself how awesome it was.

Description from Amazon:

Miss Me Not is a beautiful story of self-discovery, forgiveness, caring, and love.

Madison Hanson's past demons have given her a shadow of an existence with little hope. With the sudden tragic death of a fellow student, Madison questions her own life choices, and is now forced to evaluate everything she thought she believed in. When fate intervenes and partners her with Dean Jackson, a popular "all around good guy" from school, Madison gets a glimpse of a life that is filled with sunshine that has the power to break through the darkness she has cloaked herself in.
With Dean's help, Madison discovers a desire to finally step out of the shadows, and embrace life and all its gifts.

My thoughts on this book:

I really like the overall theme/moral of this story. Bullying is a problem and I like how the author addressed this problem in this book. Not only was bullying addressed but forgiveness, religious persecution/hypocrites, and suicide was also addressed as well. I felt so sorry for the main character, Madison. She let her guilt eat at her and the fact that her mom could never find it in herself to forgive her daughter made it seem that much worse for Madison. I really enjoyed reading this book, it tugged at my emotions and left me thinking about it long after I stopped reading it. There were some aspects that I didn't like though. I thought that the situation between Madison's dad and her needed to be developed more and the relationship with Dean seemed a little rushed. But other than that the book was easy to read, definitely worth the read and I would recommend it.

Here are some Teasers from the book:

"To anyone else, it was just a tree. To me it was a sanctuary. A place where shadow no longer mattered as they all melded together" Page 51

"Life was beckoning me. I could feel its insistence and enticement. At the moment, death was nowhere to be found" page 267

I give this book a 3.8/5*** and if you want to read it for yourself here it is from Amazon..

The Red Fox

I got the pleasure of being asked to review this novella from Kim Hunter called The Red Fox...

Here is the description from Amazon...

Leaf has a past. A reputation that dates back three generations; but she's also strong willed and determined to keep a promise she made long ago to the only person who ever cared for her. Despite her tragic home life, and her track-record with guys, she is determined to graduate her senior year. To do so she has to wrestle with those urging her to give up. Her experience in life tells her that guys are only looking for one thing from her, but when she meets someone new who wants to know her heart and not her body she faces a challenge harder than fighting to finish school--the challenge to believe he really is different and that what he says about her inner beauty really is the truth.

Jay has a dream he is determined to follow: His love for drawing portraits and his passion to express the inner beauty he sees in others. Despite his parent's pressure that he pursue studies in the medical field, he continues to pursue his passion for drawing. But other challenges in his life are not so easy to overcome. When his school life becomes unbearable because of bullying he transfers out of New York and moves in with his aunt and uncle in a small town that feels a million miles away. It's there he plans on finishing his senior year. It's there that he first meets Leaf, the Red Fox, and everything in his life changes.

A Teenage Romance That Can't Be Stopped.

He wants to help her see her pure inner beauty. She wants to help him discover his heart of courage. Between them stands an entire senior year, led by her recent ex-boyfriend, who are determined to keep them apart. But where fear is used to separate, love is embraced to overcome.

My thoughts on the novella:

I thought this novella was short, sweet and covered teenage issues that plague them daily. Hunter covered peer pressure, bullying and finding yourself when everyone around you believes something different about you. I feel that the character Leaf was developed but the other characters needed some work and more background information for them because I felt like they were lacking more characteristics and needed more depth to them. Other than the lack of character development it was a good story! It was kind of predictable but still easy to read and had a good moral to the story. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a short, easy read with good morals.

I give this novella 3*** and you can buy it here for only $0.99

Location 4116 on the Kindle:
""You know I meant it. I am human. And male. And not remotely blind. Do you want me to say it again? You are distractingly even-if-that-is-not-a-real-word pretty. You are so pretty that I bullied Clay Whitaker into drawing me a picture of you so I could look at you when you aren't around. You are so pretty that one of these days I'm going to lose a finger in my garage because I can't concentrate with you so close to me. You are so pretty that I wish you weren't so I wouldn't want to hit every guy at school who looks at you, especially my best friend...More? I can keep going"".. I can keep going, but even as I say all of this, I know it's not quite true. She's not just distractingly pretty. She's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, and I want to touch her so badly right now that it's impossible to keep my hands from reaching out and doing it."

One of those "ehh it's ok" books

I saw that Awakened by Brenda K Davies was free so I took a chance and decided to download it. I have to say that ever since read Twilight, I haven't read another vampire book that I enjoyed like I enjoyed Twilight. I also have to learn not to compare every vampire story to Twilight...

Here is the description from Amazon:

Traumatized by her past, and struggling to move on from it, Sera has spent the past three years of college hiding herself from the world and content to stay that way. A chance encounter with Liam shatters her sheltered world, leaving her stunned and shaken by the strange feelings and emotions he arises in her, feelings she never thought she would experience and that frighten her in their intensity. Harboring a dark and deadly secret of his own, Liam knows that he should stay away from Sera; that he will only bring her more hurt, but he is irresistibly drawn to her and unable to deny himself the pleasure that only she can bring to him. But when their pasts collide with their present, and Liam’s true nature is revealed, will their love for each other be enough, or will they be torn apart forever?

What I thought..

I really got sucked into the characters and the plot of this book from the beginning but as I kept reading I actually started to get annoyed with it. I liked Sera and Liam from the start but I did not like how quickly they fell in love with each other.. It was like they met at a party, two weeks later they are professing their love to one another. There wasn't much build up to it and I NEEEED the build up or else it is just cheesy to me.. The book was very easy to put down and I probably could have stopped reading it all together if I was a cheater but I trudged on like the good reader that I am. But by the end I was left frustrated with the entire thing. The one guiding light to this book was the holy hot vampire sex scenes!! Even though the author used really weird adjectives to describe certain ummm "aspects", I still thought the sex and make out scenes were HOT!! Other than that the book was just ok and it might be amazing for other people but I just didn't enjoy it like I thought I would.

I give this book a 2.8/5 and if you want to try it for yourself you can get it here from Amazon:

Kicking Eternity

This sweet, sweet author asked me to read one of her novels and I took her up on her offer! I just finished it tonight and wanted to tell you guys about it...

The novel is called Kicking Eternity by Ann Lee Miller

Description from Amazon
Stuck in sleepy New Smyrna Beach one last summer, Raine socks away her camp pay checks, worries about her druggy brother, and ignores trouble: Cal Koomer. She’s a plane ticket away from teaching orphans in Africa, and not even Cal’s surfer six-pack and the chinks she spies in his rebel armor will derail her.

The artist in Cal begs to paint Raine’s ivory skin, high cheek bones, and internal sparklers behind her eyes, but falling for her would caterwaul him into his parents’ life. No thanks. The girl was self-righteous waiting to happen. Mom served sanctimony like vegetables, three servings a day, and he had a gut full.

Rec Director Drew taunts her with “Rainey” and calls her an enabler. He is so infernally there like a horsefly—till he buzzes back to his ex.

Raine’s brother tweaks. Her dream of Africa dies small deaths. Will she figure out what to fight for and what to free before it’s too late?

For anyone who’s ever wrestled with her dreams.

My View
I would like to admit that this book wouldn't be something I would normally read but I was pleasantly surprised in how much I enjoyed it. It was very spiritual and I do not get into religious debates or talk about religion to anyone because I believe it is a very personal subject and this book aligned with my sentiments as well.
Cal is a preacher's son who I instantly felt like he was lost and didn't know whether to believe everything he was taught growing up or branch out to other religions to see if there was more out there.
Raine always believed in her spirituality and she taught it to others at the camp. Even though she enjoyed her work she wanted desperately to get away to Africa because she felt that was God's will for her and she wanted to follow it but also wanted to escape from her past.
Drew also believed in his spirituality and he tried to follow what God had planned for him but he was stuck in the past and in order to move forward he needed to confront his past demons.
Each main character was trying to find their way in life and in their beliefs, whether to move forward or go backwards, believe in what they were taught or find their own way. Each of these situations have come up in almost everybody's life and I feel like the author did a great job portraying the uncertainty that life can throw your way sometimes. These characters felt more real and even the secondary characters each played an important role in this novel and I liked them as well. I would suggest this book to anyone who believes in God or who may even be on the fence. But if you do not believe then this book is not for you.

I give this book a 3.9/5 and if you want to check it out, it's FREE just go here and DL it to your Kindle:

Taking Chances...

I just finished Taking Chances by Molly McAdams.. I had many emotions while reading this book...

I would like to start off by saying I HATE LOVE TRIANGLES!!! As exciting as love triangles can be, sometimes I am screaming in my head "OK PICK SOMEONE ALREADY".. I do not like people who are back and forth, up and down, sideways, backwards, inside out....Ok u get the point...  I like my characters strong, confident, don't take shit from anyone around them. I especially like characters that are weak and not amusing in the beginning of the book and then grow to be strong, confident, individuals by the end. That is what I got from Harper...

Harper is a shy, recluse, military kid who grew up with only a non-emotional Marine father. Her mother died when Harper was born and it has been her and Sir ever since (yeah she doesn't even call her dad, dad, it's only sir). She was home-schooled and was never allowed to wear women's clothing, not only that, she was brought up with a bunch of jarheads that pretty much raised her and taught her everything she knew. After she graduated she wanted to go to school that was far away from her childhood home in North Carolina so she opted to go to San Diego State University. Her roommate at SDSU is Breanna, a spunky, courageous, confident girl who Harper immediately envies for the way she carries herself. Breanna and her become instant friends because Harper wants to be more like her and Breanna pretty much gets along with anyone. We go on a journey with Harper and watch her grow. She loves Brandon but also loves Chase, as a reader you can't decide which one to root for because you begin to love each character.

I didn't like this book until towards the end, when I really began to love it. This is the first book with a love triangle that I didn't want to throw against the wall. I hated Harper in the beginning but she grew on me like gentle green moss growing on the side of a tree. And eventually instead of looking at how ugly I thought the moss was, I began to see the artistic view of the moss and how adaptable and beautiful the moss is and by the end I was rooting for Harper and loved her strong, independent self!

I give this book a 4/5 and recommend this book to anyone who loves a Love Triangle =)!!
