{Review} Elect by Rachel Van Dyken

Would you die for the one you love?
Nixon Abandonato made his choice. And now he has to pay the price. Tracey is the love of his life, but being with him has made her a target of his family's enemies. The only way to keep Trace alive is convince the world she means nothing to him.

Trace Rooks has fallen irrevocably in love with the son of her family's sworn rival, and she knows in her bones nothing can tear them apart. Until Nix suddenly pushes her away and into the arms of his best friend... But Trace isn't ready to give up on a future with Nix--and if he won't fight for them, she will.

In the end, a sacrifice must be made. A life for a life. For what better way to cover a multitude of sins than with the blood of a sinner . . .

My Thoughts

It's no question that I love Rachel Van Dyken. Each one of her books I read, I fall more and more in love and she is quickly becoming one of my go to authors that I will read as soon as her books go LIVE.

SO, it is no stretch of the imagination that I was going to LOVE Elect and I wasn't wrong in my initial assessment because I did love it. I loved it hardcore!!!

It was intense, passionate, and by the end, I needed a cigarette and a fifth of vodka and I do not smoke nor drink straight up vodka but that is how much my nerves and heart were all over the place.

When Elite left off, I had a feeling Rachel was going to take this book a certain way and I prayed she wouldn't, that this wouldn't turn into some big love triangle between Chase, Nixon and Trace. I couldn't handle all the action AND a huge love triangle.

It kind of became one but at the same time it didn't... We see the plan of getting Trace away from Nixon by pushing her into Chase's arms (again) and then Chase just having to deal with it, even when he was battling his own emotions and feelings for Trace too.

I felt bad for Chase, but I also wanted Trace and Nixon to end up together because I just needed them to be. I loved their dynamic and I mean they have loved each other since they were kids... SWOOONN!!  They are perfect for one another and no other relationship would have made sense to me. But that didn't mean I didn't feel bad for Chase, because I did. I wanted to take him for myself... protect him and his heart. (meany Rachel)

I was so invested in this story, I found out the secrets and uncovered family issues that pretty much started this whole thing and I was WTFing, OMGing, NO WAYing, everywhere. I was left on the edge of my seat and by the end I was so badly bruised that I couldn't even see straight.

But it was SO GOOD!!!

I seriously loved the entire mind fuck and body bruising that this author gave me.
The sick and sadistic thing was... I was left wanting MORE... I wanted more of the face slaps and butt punches!!

Go ahead Rachel, I am at your mercy... I will even bend over to allow you easier access...

Overall, I give this book a 4.5/5 and I am seriously in LOVE with this series.... GIMME GIMME GIMME!!! Can't wait to read more about this mafia laced, badass series!!

If you want to know more or read these books for yourself, start with Elite and move on to Elect... I promise  you will love every. single. word....
