{Review} Reality by Dani Hart

For the first time ever, I have no idea what to rate a book.. This book was just.. I don't even know.. I am going to try and get down everything I thought about it and I will decide then..

I am Arie Belle and up until my mother’s unexpected and mysterious death my life had been pretty simple, but then things became dark and, at times, hopeless. Even my uncanny ability to communicate with nature had turned its back on me. My only saving grace is my lifetime friendship with the boy next door, River, whom I had always thought of as my soul mate up until my eighteenth birthday when everything seemed to change. My body tingles with heightened sensations and my emotions veer out of control. They are further tested when Ashe, a beautiful stranger with a powerful draw, enters my life and challenges my heart and soul. Amidst the rush of feelings after years of numbness, my true destiny slowly unravels and my journey to find out what I am, to find my mother’s killer, and stop my own death becomes a frantic rush before the next full moon.

This powerful story encaptures the true meaning of love and the dark corners of life that can either suck you in or save you.

My Thoughts

One of my followers on Facebook told me they were reading this book and that it was GOOD and it was SAD..
Pssshhh SOLD I love me some books that can make me sad, I LOVE the feels, even when I am cursing the author for making me FEEL!!

So I ask the author politely if I can read and review this book for her before it was released.. I needed something different, I was being burnt out from the same 'ol book/love story/HEA and I thought this one was right up the alley of what I wanted to get me out of my slump..
I was RIGHT!!

I am going to start with the dislike because I want to end this review on a good note.. The only thing I did not connect with was the main character, I thought Arie was...I don't know the right word for it.. I know she was a lost soul since her mother died and she was trying to find herself in the world/nature, trying to figure out her past, where she came from. I understood all of that but I just couldn't connect with her like I wanted too. I liked her but I wasn't in love with her, its one of those I need to read the rest of the series to be able to really connect and know her..
DISCLAIMER: I also didn't like Bella when I first read Twilight, she actually got on my last nerve in New Moon and I wanted to shank her and steal Edward for myself but that's just me ;) (def not Rob Pat though, EW NO)..
So, it is not like I won't like Arie, I just need more from her..
She needs to grow a little more and I think I will fall for her..

Ok enough of that, let's move on to the one thing I absolutely, positively, ADORED in this story..
The originality was SUPERB..
The concept and plot was just incredible..
I don't know if I should explain it or not, this is what I was struggling with when thinking about what to write. The big reveal is what Arie is and what she means to nature, in general so if I talk about what she is I don't want to ruin it for all of you who have NOT read it..
so I am going to keep this kind of vague..

Arie is very important, there are things that only she can restore back to order and it is up to her. She has to make decisions and these decisions affect (effect? I never freaking know the difference) her kind...
But with all of this, there is a deeper message on a deeper level than what we are reading. The author kinda dives deeper into the essence of life and how everyone has an essence that lives on, even if our physical bodies do not.
But we also can't mess with destiny and fate, only they can decide what happens. Even if we want to blame ourselves for things happening, we can't, we have to trust and believe that fate and destiny know what they are doing.
It's kind of being blind, while living your life.
You just have to have trust and faith.
INCREDIBLE

I also couldn't put this book down once I got really into it, it was a little slow at first but when it picked up, I was eagerly turning the pages to find out more.
I LOVED River, absolutely loved him!!
He was Arie's best friend and biggest confidant, he was always there for her and I really hope.... well we will leave it like that ;)

This book was very whimsical, always keeping you guessing, it was a little confusing at times but if you keep going you will eventually figure it out. It also sticks with you long after reading it..Leaves you wondering about life in general and whether or not our essence can really live on through nature..

This is also YA-Paranormal.. some steamy moments but its pretty PG13..

I give this book a 4/5 and if you want to check it out for yourself, it is set to be released on September 23rd, 2013
(my brother's birthday ;)

{COVER REVEAL} Four Seconds to Lose by K.A. Tucker

Set to be RELEASED:
 November 4th, 2013!!!

ABOUT FOUR SECONDS TO LOSE:
Owning a strip club isn’t the fantasy most guys expect it to be. With long hours, a staff with enough issues to keep a psych ward in business, and the police regularly on his case, twenty-nine year old Cain is starting to second guess his unspoken mission to save the women he employs. And then blond, brown-eyed Charlie Rourke walks through his door, and things get really complicated. Cain abides by a strict “no sleeping with the staff” rule. But being around Charlie challenges Cain’s self-control…and it’s been a long time since any woman has done that.
Twenty-two-year old Charlie Rourke needs a lot of money, really fast, in order to vanish before it’s too late. Taking her clothes off for men makes her stomach curl but Charlie tells herself that at least she’s putting her acting and dancing skills to good use. And though her fellow dancers seem eager to nab their sexy, sophisticated, and genuinely caring boss, she’s not interested. After all, Charlie Rourke doesn’t really exist—and the girl pretending to be her doesn’t need to complicate her life with romance.
Unfortunately, Charlie soon discovers that developing feelings for Cain is inevitable, that those feelings may not be unrequited—but losing him when he finds out what she’s involved with will be more painful than any other sentence awaiting her.

{Review} Unscrupulous by Avery Aster

SO this crazy author hair-assed me on Goodreads (no not really) wanting to know if I would read her book.. And of course I said YES because I honestly can't say NO to anyone.. I'm such a book slut ;) ANNDD she was really sweet/sassy with her hair-ass-ment that I couldn't possibly say NO!!..
Anyway, I downloaded this book onto my Kindle and here is what I thought about:

Book 2 in The Manhattanites series
At thirty-three Warner Truman is one of the richest men on the planet, a spa mogul who buys and sells resorts at will. He holds powerful executive’s careers in his well-groomed hands. Nothing is beyond Warner’s reach…until he meets her.
Stunning, tantalizing, and perverse, Taddy Brill captivates Warner’s carnal desire like no woman he’s ever met. A self-made millionaire, Taddy is tougher than steel, more brilliant than diamonds and, at twenty-seven, she’s never depended on a man for anything…until she meets him.
The more Taddy plays with Warner’s affections, driving him to erotic heights, the more she is confronted by a dark past. But before she can love him, Taddy must meet her worst fears head-on or risk losing it all, including herself.

My Thoughts

So I imagine that if Fifty Shades of Grey and Sex and the City had a book baby that this would be it..
It had both the sassy, sexy, couture of SATC and the kinky, I am going to fuck your ass and fuck you anywhere I want, like FSOG..

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone and follows the story of Taddy Brill (AkA Tabitha Adelaide Brillford) and Warner Truman. They are both rich, moguls who run their own businesses. I liked how the author made Taddy have her own money and determination in life. She wasn't looking for someone to take care of her, she just wanted someone to give her mind blowing sex whenever she desired (what woman with a working vagina wouldn't). Enter Warner, who had all the money he wanted but was looking for an equal to share it with. He didn't want to deal with the gold digging hussies and he wanted someone with their own future and goals.

"She came hard enough to start the day with a smile. No Baden Cosmetics rouge on her cheeks required"

It was like a match made in porn heaven.
While Taddy got to feel Big Daddy, Big Daddy got to fill her up. But hot chemistry and mind blowing sex does not make a relationship.
Taddy is distant and at times cold because she can't deal with her feelings. She is better at running a company not actually FEELING something for someone. Warner scared Taddy right out of her Louboutins and Warner wanted to own her mind, body, heart, and soul and of course he was used to getting what he wanted.
Taddy was resistant, she had some trust issues stemming back from her parents being ultimate assholes. But what happens when she pushes away, will Warner let her go? Can she learn to love him?

There was no lack of sexy in this book, it was there, it was ALL over it. Whether it was talking about sex, fantasizing about it, or actually doing it, the characters never really lacked orgasms
(of course not unless they were too busy being CEOs and running companies and shit).

“Please do not masturbate while I do your feet. I cannot take another moaning horny white woman this week.”

There were a couple of things that put me off of this book and then there were things that I totally loved.

Dislikes: I didn't get emotionally invested with the characters. I couldn't really relate to them, my vagina was all for them but my heart and mind were a little "ehhhh"..
Taddy's mother and father.. I still have no idea what happened there. Did her mom intentionally make her father disown Taddy? Did her dad ever talk to her? Taddy's real father was kind of obvious but did Taddy ever figure it out??

Unresolved issues are the devil Bobby!!!

Last but not least.. I will NEVER EVER read a book with the word "scrotum" and think "Oh scrotums get me hot and bothered, I love me some scrotums"... ahhhh I think I found a word I HATE worse than moist.. ;)

LIKES/LOVES: Besides using the word scrotum, the sex was freaking HOT and not just HOT but effing erotic!! I had to fan myself a few times and then take a cold shower or pretend I didn't just get totally turned on by a book and give my husband that look, like yeah we are about to do this.. look

smirk gif photo: 2i27cjc.gif

The banter back and forth between the friends was priceless and laughing your ass off funny!! I love me some good banter. I also loved Taddy's determination (almost annoyingly stubborn, it was on the line) but she was strong and not really a whiner she took shit in stride and loved the ones that proved themselves invaluable to her. I liked that, I liked that a LOT!!

Overall I give this book a 3-3.5/5 and if you want to check it out for yourself go here:

{REVIEW} Bully by Penelope Douglas

I have so many things I want to say about this book... Lets see if I can get them all down..

My name is Tate. He doesn't call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all.

We're neighbors, and once, we were best friends. But then, one summer, he turned on me and has made it his mission to screw up my life at every opportunity. I've been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to hide from him. I worried about what was around every corner and behind every door.

So I left.

I spent a year studying abroad and bathed in the freedom of life without Jared. Now I'm back to finish up high school and get the hell out of here forever. I'm hoping that after a year of breathing room, he's moved on and forgotten all about me.

But even if he hasn't changed, I have. I'm not interested in avoiding him or turning the other cheek anymore. We're going to go head to head, because neither of us wants to back down.

My Thoughts

I didn't think I was going to love this book as much as I did. I mean it is about a big bad Bully who likes to make a girl's life a living Hell but there was something about this Bully that pulled me in and kept me thinking about WTF his problem could be. I also couldn't figure out why in the HELL this chick could be attracted to this guy and want to have him anywhere near her lady bits when he was such a douchenozzle??

But she knew what it was like to be loved by him as a child, he was her best friend and it is hard to get over something like that no matter how mean he could be.

Jared was Tate's best friend and they did everything together as kids until something happened to Jared that caused him to change and you know that saying, "you hurt the ones you love the most", that was true here because the only person Jared could lash out at was Tate and deep down he knew that Tate would take it, but she couldn't take it anymore and she started fighting back.
She still loved him and missed him as a friend but
enough was enough.

“You were my tempest, my thunder cloud, my tree in the downpour. I loved all those things, and I loved you. But now? You’re a fucking drought. I thought that all the assholes drove German cars, but it turns out that pricks in Mustangs can still leave scars.”

Jared also lived by the rule of "if I can't have her nobody else can either". He would intentionally spread lies about Tate to get guys to either be afraid of her or disgusted by her.
I just couldn't figure him out! What was his problem? Why did he contradict himself so much? He bullied Tate pushed guys away from her but didn't want her for himself, made her life a living Hell but would also stand up for her..
Did he like her? Did he hate her? Did he just like seeing her hurting?
And even though he was doing all of these awful things I was still rooting for him, still getting crazy butterflies rolling around and I just couldn't help it, there was something about him that pulled me in and like a moth to a flame I couldn't pull away!

"Tatum?" His voice sounded soft and gentle, and I instantly felt warm all over. But then he spoke again.
"I wouldn't care if you were alive or dead."

Then that infamous speech and stuff started to change and we finally get down to the root of the problem and I was like hmmm..
I won't go into too much detail but I do think Jared had a lot of ass kissing to do and he didn't redeem himself enough for me BUT I still loved him hard core.

And can I say that from the very beginning of this book the chemistry between Jared and Tate was effing COM-BUST-IBLE!! I felt it all the way to my toes and even when they were screaming at one another, I felt it, I felt the underlying current that would have ignited with just one taste!!

I loved this story, it pulled me in and I fell in love with Tate, I seriously loved her as a character...
She DIDN'T annoy the ever loving shit out of me and despite being called names and being picked on, she was STRONG. She didn't take shit to heart and just let it roll right off of her. BUT the best thing about her was her ability to love despite it all.
She was AWESOME!

I also enjoyed the relationship between her and her dad. There needs to be more stories with strong parental relationships because those relationships are the basic building blocks of future relations.
Without a healthy foundation most of your relationships in the future will probably be built on rocky ground...
(Sorry the psychology student in me came out)

Overall I give this book a 4.5/5 stars and I can't wait to read more from this amazing author!!

{REVIEW} Watch Over Me by Tara Sivec

Sigghh I freaking LOVE Tara Sivec
She is such a versatile author who can write books that make me laugh so hard I pee myself to books that will gut punch and break my heart all at the same time.
I never know what I am going to get when I crack open one of her books and I love that about her the most...

Watch Over Me was one of those books that left me cracked and had me thinking about it LONG after I was done reading it.

Here is my review for:

Addison Snow is your typical teenager. She has a family that loves her, friends that make her laugh, and she's wrapped up in the excitement of graduating high school and going off to college to pursue her dream of becoming an author. When her mother, who also happens to be Addison's best friend, dies unexpectedly, her world comes to a crashing halt.

Death changes everyone...

To make the pain go away, Addison and her father travel down separate, dark paths. She chooses to end her grief forever, while he drowns his sorrows in the bottom of a bottle. How do you learn to live again when the most important person in your life is gone?

Addison struggles to pick up the pieces of her life. Instead of getting back to being the carefree teenager she once was, she's stuck handling all of the responsibilities that should have been her father's. She has no time to grieve, no time for emotions, and no time for happiness...until Zander Reinhardt walks in. All it takes is one little handwritten note on a napkin to kick-start her back to life and help her realize that maybe there's more to that life than pain.

But can it really be that simple? Can she really trust this man who makes her feel alive again for the first time in a year?

Addison and Zander both have secrets they aren't ready to share. When the truth finally comes out, is it enough to tear them apart or has something bigger than themselves always been watching over them, pushing them together, making sure they both get their happily ever after?

My Thoughts

Death changes everything..
That phrase kept repeating inside my head.
Everything seemed to change in Addison's life as soon as her mother passed away. Her father can't get over the grief, she has to take on the responsibilities of a grown woman instead of living her teenage life, happy and carefree.
She's devastated by her mother's unexpected death, hurt by her father's unwillingness to clean up and depressed from the turn of events that has taken place. She wants to be free from her life so she does something dangerous to escape the constant pain.

"It's easy to forgive someone for the hurt they've caused you. Forgetting is impossible"

Afterwards, she starts seeing a therapist to help her cope with the obstacles that life is throwing at her, she remains in control of her parent's bakery, and her father is still damaged. But this is about the time that Zandar walks into her life and for the first time in a very long time she starts to feel hope.
Hope for the future, hope in life, hope in herself.

With the help of her therapist she starts to see things differently and starts to open herself up to Zandar, she needs someone to comfort her and be her rock when she can't take it anymore, Zandar becomes that and more but what happens when there is a secret that he has yet to tell her and breaks the foundation that they worked on building?

"I don't want to do anything that will make him leave because I don't want to be strong anymore. I'm so tired of being strong"

This book... THIIIISSS book seriously did a number on my heart, mind, and beliefs. I won't give away the magic that happens in here but lets just say the comparisons that Addison kept making made me curious and then the note that was left in the office was a mixture of freaky and heartwarming.

It took my mind off what is impossible and made me believe in the possibility , even if I didn't want to believe in it, Tara Sivec forced it on me and told me to swallow it down and made me feel like I have always believed in this impossibility. She took me out of my comfort zone and led me straight to the uncomfortable but she gently guided me through so it wasn't painful, it was soothing to my very soul.

I have always been a spiritual type of person, not very religious but I do believe that I have loved ones watching over me and this book confirmed my beliefs in that.

I loved the relationship between Zander and Addison, he was good for her and she was just what he needed in his life. They were the epitome of two halves of a whole, ying to yang and all them lovely adjectives. They weren't annoying characters that needed to grow the fuck up and stop annoying the shit out of me.. I loved them, I loved how Addison grew not only as a person but as partner, someone who could be an equal to Zander, stand on her own and know when she needed to just let it all go and live her own life...

"With the help of a boy who loved her more than she thought possible, and the of the most important person in her life watching over her, she learned how to move forward. She learned how to live"

Gahh just fan-fucking-tastic shit...

The only reason I am not giving it 5***** is because I felt it should have been a bit longer with a more rounded out ending. LOVED the epilogue but I wanted to know more about her and her father's relationship, how Meg was doing, just small things that I wanted to know more about.

I give this book a 4/5 and if you want to check out for yourself go here:

{REVIEW} Unspoken by Jen Frederick

I requested this book on Netgalley and was excited to be approved.. I didn't even read the description I just saw it was New Adult and the cover was swoon-worthy so I clicked it.. Now here is what I thought of:

Whore. Slut. Typhoid Mary.

I've been called all these at Central College. One drunken night, one act of irresponsible behavior, and my reputation was ruined. Guys labeled me as easy and girls shied away. To cope, I stayed away from Central social life and away from Central men, so why is it that my new biology lab partner is so irresistible to me?

He's everything I shouldn't want. A former Marine involved in illegal fighting with a quick trigger temper and an easy smile for all the women. His fists aren't the danger to me, though, it's his charm. He's sliding his way into my heart and I'm afraid that he's going to be the one to break me.

Impulsive. Unthinking. Hot tempered.

I allow instinct to rule my behavior. If it feels good, do it, has been my motto because if I spend too much time thinking, I'll begin to remember exactly where I came from. At Central College, I've got fighting and I've got women and I thought I was satisfied until I met her.

She's everything I didn't realize I wanted and the more time I spend with her, the more I want her. But she's been hurt too much in the past and I don't want to be the one to break her. I know I should walk away, but I just can't

My Thoughts

So I was in like with this book and was almost in love with it but the ending left me feeling a little bereft. I think I needed more information about AM and her dad's relationship, Bo and his mom's relationship, what happened after college was over..
Just little things that I think should have been rounded out a little more.
But even with all that, I still really enjoyed this book and here is why...

The details were incredibly accurate!
I don't know if the author is married to a Marine, used to be a Marine, has a relative or a friend that is a Marine but she knew her knowledge, especially about Grunts and POGs. My husband is a grunt and when I read the few parts about Bo calling people POGs it made me chuckle because it was something my husband would say!
Also the camaraderie between Marines even when they transition out the Corps was fairly accurate, a lot of Marines still keep in touch with their fellow brothers even years after they are separated from the MC. They form a special kind of bond while they are stationed together, especially if they have fought together.

"You can smite one Marine, but a thousand will rise up to avenge him"

AM was a great character, she grew up in this story, learned how to stand up for herself, and seeing her transform throughout the story was inspiring. Bo was sexy as sin, patient, kind, didn't tolerate bullshit and he was a fighter both metaphorically and literally. He fought his way through life, fought to love AM, and fought grown men to help with the pain inside of himself.

AM and Bo both had demons they needed to overcome and they did it, together. Bo was trying to get over his past and his abusive father, while AM was trying to get over the bullying that was taking place in her life, along with trying to communicate with an absentee father. They found solace in one another but they were both getting stronger standing on their own two feet.

The chemistry between AM and Bo was magical, sexy, steamy, and believable. Their relationship started as friends and built from there, there was no insta-love but definitely an insta-connection that could make your toes curl, and have your heart skipping beats. The love scenes made me want to blush and then attack my husband ;).

"She knew I was right, but the question was whether she wanted to give me a chance. I was asking her to do more than reveal a painful memory. I was essentially asking her for something more than a random one-night hook-up. I wanted her to trust me. I wanted her to be more than just a lab partner, more than just another warm body between the sheets. I wanted to matter to her."

The story was overall really good, believable, there were some cheese parts but I still thought it was cute and sexy. The well-thought out characters is really what made this book enjoyable to read and I am glad I picked it to review!!

If you want to read a book about characters becoming stronger and overcoming adversary, finding solace with one another but being able to fight their own demons, then you will love this story. There is a heavy emphasis on bullying and sexual harassment but the author did a good job with keeping it plausible and not too heavy that the book was hard to read.

Overall, I rate this book between a 3.5-4  maybe closer to a 4.

It is set to release September 16th, 2013!!

{REVIEW} Elegantly Wasted by C. Elizabeth Vescio

I was asked to read this book and I don't even know what to say.. It has taken me a lot longer to figure it out than normal but I think I finally got it...
Here is my review for:

On the eve of her high school graduation, proper socialite Francesca “Frankie” Fairholm rebelled against her elitist and controlling family to pursue the dark lifestyle of a contract killer for the enigmatic Osiris Corporation. Years later, with her training complete, she believes she's doomed to the life of a sociopathic lone gun until a botched hit brings two unlikely allies, her cousins Addison and Katharine.

Using Katharine’s etiquette school, Elegance, Inc., as a front, the trio weave through Frankie’s dark underworld, carrying out contracts, drinking too much wine, and trying not to get each other killed.

Trouble follows the team home when the death of the cruel Fairholm matriarch reveals more than they ever wanted to know about their family. As the funeral preparations play out, the trio begin to realize there is much more to their employer than meets the eye and their family connections run deeper than they ever imagined.

My Thoughts

So this book was definitely NOT one of my "normal" reads and I was hesitant at first to read it because I didn't think I could like it since it was not my normal genre. With that being said, I just had one of those feelings like I need to read this book, you know those feelings you sometimes get when you see a book and you just say ok I should read this, there is something about this book that is intriguing me???
Well, I got that feeling and dove straight in.. I don't think I came up for air until I reached the end and even then I was panting for more..

This book is like Charlie Angels on CRACK!! Three bad ass chicks (well it starts off with just Frankie and her cousins kind of get recruited) being assassins, kicking ass and taking care of the bad guys. AKA shanking, shooting, or slicing their necks.. It was gruesome but it was done in a funny way. Frankie's sense of sarcasm, wit, and humor made the whole book better. The situations were not so heavy and gross, it was comical and gross ;).

While reading, I couldn't figure out if I was crazy for loving it, if I needed to be institutionalized for laughing or if I was sociopath along with Frankie? I mean who finds humor in killing someone? But thats what this book did, it kept me intrigued and wanting to read more, taking me out of my comfort zone and placing me somewhere unknown but leaving me satisfied in what the book was doing and where it was heading.

"You have the spirit I always tried to obtain," she told me. I have more than that. I have spirit, sharp wit, unrelenting cynicism, and to top it all off I was just issued a suitcase of weapons"

Frankie the main character as previously stated was funny, witty, sarcastic, a little bitchy and all out crazy. But she had boundaries and she was the way she was because her home life was less than stellar.
The psychology student in me was cheering for the psychological concepts and craziness that was happening, the human side was cringing at what she had to live through.
I probably would have found joy in killing other people too if I was her (GAAASSSPPP, I know but when you read it you will see what I mean).

"Osiris just seems like a place for lost children," I suddenly felt sad, though I wasn't quite sure why. "No one wanted me around, so I had to leave home and join a company of killers to feel wanted."

This book is not just about killing people and hired chick assassins, it was also about three women finding their own way, away from the scrutiny of the family, while still keeping up a facade to the outside world. They had to learn to trust in not only themselves but in each other. Trust was a hard thing to come by in that family.

It was full of action, humor, sarcasm, and a crazy family with no moral compass. The ending is a dozy and you suspect but do not know the full weight of secrets the family is hiding.

You won't guess so it is better to not even try.

I was reading this book while riding in a car, on the way to visit family and I kept laughing and cringing and smacking my husband saying listen, listen, listen.. She just slept with her enemy and they compared her to a black widow *giggles ensue* and he just gives me a blank stare and asks if he has to be worried about me shanking him in the middle of the night...
Silly husband....

If you want to read an action packed book full of badass females who can shoot ya and smile afterwards, then sleep like a baby at night, this book is for you. If you have a minor obsession with Charlie Angels on crack then I suggest getting this book.
I promise it is not like any book you have read, if you are like me and read mostly NA, YA, and paranormal you might be hesitant but I advise you to just give it a try. It will take you out of your comfort zone and you will find yourself questioning your moral compass and asking yourself..
"Is it ok to kill someone who really deserve it??"
"Would I actually kill my worst enemy because they deserve bad things to happen to them??"
But it is a good read and a serious mind-fuck ;)

I give this book between a 4-4.5 and I look forward to reading more from this author.
