Naked The Blackstone Affair Part 1 by Raine Miller

I was given the opportunity to read this book for a review by netgalley and Atria Books..
I was so honored to be picked for a review I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into it!!

Here is what I thought about:

Naked
by
Raine Miller

Description from Amazon:
Brynne Bennett has left scandal in her past and is living the good life. An American grad student at the University of London and part-time photographic model, she’s getting back on track with lots of hard work and focus on a career in art conservation. When successful and charismatic London businessman Ethan Blackstone buys her nude portrait, he wants to possess more than just her image. He wants Brynne in his bed, serving him in every way possible. He has no trouble voicing his desires, and he isn’t taking “no” for an answer.
At first, his dominant nature captivates her, but it isn’t clear if the force of his powerful desire will ultimately awaken or dispel the demons Brynne is carrying inside. There are secrets on both sides of this relationship—huge ones. Can Ethan erase the scars of Brynne’s past so that she can reveal her true self to him? Or will the shadows cast by Ethan’s own mysterious former life destroy their chance at happiness?
Naked is the sizzling, unforgettable story of what happens when a strong woman meets the one man powerful enough to strip away all her defenses, leaving her standing naked and perfect before him.

My Thoughts

WHAT.THE.FUCK did I just read???
The cover is HOT the sex scenes are HOT and STEAMY but other than that I could not get into this book at ALL..
I couldn't relate to the characters!!
I felt like I could not relate because there was no build up, no anticipation, no back story on any of the characters, it did not keep me interested AT ALL..
There was just a lot of sex and no plot, I honestly do not even know what the point of the book was???
I get that it is a "erotic love-story" but really there can't just be sex and no story because then it just doesn't keep people interested or invested in it.
The dialogue was not interesting because it kept telling me how I was feeling instead of letting me figure it out for myself.
I know this is only book one of three in the series but the author couldn't have told us a little more about the characters before they just jumped in the sack together and shagged??
Even in 50 shades the character's back stories were told and you are intrigued from the very beginning with the possibility of Ana becoming a submissive to the dominant Mr. Grey. And in The Crossfire series Eva and Gideon are both trying to get over their sexually abusive pasts and form a relationship with one another but at least you get their history and then you are left wondering if they can make it as a couple when they have so many obstacles to overcome!
You get a STORY with these other books not just the sex, the STORIES intrigued and sucked me in.

Naked... NOT so much...

One thing that I DID like was Benny, Brynne's gay friend (of course I love my gay men). He was funny, upfront, and oozed sex appeal as well! I also liked the relationship between Brynne and her father, it was a nice change from the regular books I have read where the characters have no relationship with their parents...

I do not know how this book has gotten so many 5***** because honestly I am going to give it a 2/5 and I am being generous..

I haven't decided yet if getting the second book is worth my time so I can actually see WTF is ailing Brynne and WHY Ethan wanted her so bad..

Let me know what you guys think??

IT WAS YOU (ARC) by Anna Cruise

You new Authors really rock my face off!!!
I was given this book for an honest review and here is what I thought about

IT WAS YOU
By:
Anna Cruise

Description from Amazon:

Abby Sellers knows what she wants.

Enduring eighteen years in the shadow of her identical twin sister, Annika, she wants a fresh start. A chance to create her own life, separate from her conniving, deceptive twin.

Surprising both her family and friends, Abby ditches her plans for college and enrolls at a new school instead. There, she encounters West Montgomery, a sexy fellow student who immediately disarms her with his good looks and charm. West takes a liking to Abby and she suddenly finds herself walking a thin line, fabricating a fictional life created not by lies but by omission. She soon discovers West has secrets of his own, secrets that he's not altogether interested in sharing.

Out from under the shadow of her twin, Abby's life—and her relationship with West—blossoms. When Abby leaves town one weekend, something unthinkable happens and her relationship with West is shattered. Reeling from the discovery, Abby fears all of her plans have backfired and she's created a mess for both of them, a mess that no one can clean up.

But West isn't willing to let her go that easily. When he forces her to confront secrets they've both been hiding, Abby must decide more than if she's willing to forgive and forget. She must also decide just what kind of life she wants...and who she wants to live it with.

My Thoughts:

I really liked this book, it kept me entertained, once I got to a certain part I did not want to put it down, and when I got to the end I wanted another book or an epilogue!

Abby was a sweet, lovable, innocent, character who had a smart mouth, and witty personality. Her best friend Tana, was her only friend because her evil, conniving sister pretty much destroyed any possibility of having other friends.
This book was different in the fact that twins usually are really close friends but not in this case. It seemed that Annika never wanted Abby to have anything to herself and she destroyed any possibility of happiness by doing things to Abby that would hurt and humiliate her.

West was a boy Abby met while registering for the community college and he was intrigued with Abby almost immediately because of her witty banter and don't take crap attitude. He also saw the sweet side to Abby and he just had to be with her.

LIKES:
What I loved about this book was Abby herself was an enjoyable character and I didn't mind being inside her head. The relationship between her and West was also very hot and very interesting to read about. The banter back and forth between the two of them was comical and sweet.
Tana was also another character that I enjoyed and she reminded me a lot of my best friend. She stuck up for Abby but also told Abby when she was being stupid, like a best friend should.
The plot was different and it pulled you into the emotional roller coaster that was Abby's life. You definitely felt a lot of emotions towards Abby and you were rooting for her until the very end, especially when it came to the anger she felt towards her sister, you are left wanting to bitch slap Annika as much as Abby did. When an author can make me feel emotions like that then I know it is good writing.
I loved West's cockiness and the way he carried himself, it was like he was made for Abby because he made her feel unique in a world where there were two of her. She needed to be thought of as an individual and he gave that piece of heaven to her.

DISLIKES:
I've said it before and I will say it again, I cannot stand the insta-love stuff!! Abby and West barely knew each other before declaring their undying love and devotion towards one another. Also the fact that Abby was a virgin and she just gave it up after only knowing West a short time kind of irked my nerves as well!! Lastly, the ending bothered me but most of the time when authors leave an ending open like that it usually means they are going to continue the characters stories so I hope that is the case for this one!!
I really want to know more about Abby and Annika and it would be nice to have a second book that worked on their relationship or even give Annika the second book to see why she was such a
  C U Next Tuesday!

Other than the insta-love and the ending, I really enjoyed this book, and I would like to see more from these characters, I feel like I am left hanging and I need to know MORE!!

So I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good love story with a crazy plot and a psycho twin sister. Also hot/sexy scenes with very good writing all mixed together to make a New Adult-tastic book that you will be hooked on from the beginning...

I give this book a 4/5
and

Click to Subscribe (ARC) by L.M. Augustine

I was asked to read this book for an honest review and here are my thoughts on this YA-tastic novella/book..

Description of book from Goodreads:

135,789. That’s how many subscribers sixteen-year-old West Ryder has on his web vlog series. But he only has eyes for one of them.

As one of the internet’s most prestigious video bloggers, West talks about high school relationships under the name “Sam Green.” As far as he knows, no one from school, not even his best friend, Cat, has seen his videos. But the highlight of the whole thing is Harper Knight, who comments every day at exactly 2:02 in the afternoon. He doesn’t know anything about her aside from the occasional deep philosophical messaging on why pizza tastes so delicious, but as stupid as it sounds, he might be falling for her. So when they finally agree to meet in real life, West’s hope for romance seems more and more in reach. But that all changes as soon as he arrives at their meeting spot and sees Cat walking toward him, wearing the same “I <3 Sam Green” T-shirt Harper promised she'd have on.

To his alarm, West realizes he is falling in love with the best friend who has always been a sister to him.

MY THOUGHTS:

Likes:
What I really liked in the book was the easy/sarcastic banter between the two main characters. I am such a sucker for a sarcastic, wise-cracking, characters and that is what I got with this book. West is funny, sarcastic, sweet and when his world comes crashing down he doesn’t know how to handle it all. He’s emotional, raw, and you feel his pain while he is trying to cope with not only one tragedy but two. I felt heart-broken for this kid because he should not have to deal with the things he does. His vlog is his only escape and when he talks about it I feel the same way about mine, we are kindred spirits ;).. I also liked the emotion this book evokes, I found myself chuckling, cried in certain parts, and also was very frustrated with the main character but not to the point where the book annoyed me, it was a good balance. Cat/Harper was just as amusing with her love of West and being able to just get him like nobody else. She was always there for him when he needed her the most, no matter how pissed off she was at him and honestly that is what true love is all about.
Oh and can’t forget about how weird the main characters are, not only together but separately!

But loving him and not having the feelings returned enough for Cat?? and what happens if West and Cat got together and it ended badly? Do they take a leap of faith to see what happens or remain safe...as just friends??

Dislikes:
Ok I haven’t been around teenage boys in a long time and maybe it was just me but it seemed the main character needed to be manned up a little bit. There were certain times that I was reading it and I was thinking that the character seemed more feminine like the author wasn’t evoking the mind of a teenage boy but it was more like a teenage girl was speaking. I don’t know how to explain this better without seeming like I am trying to establish gender roles because honestly I am all for woman doing anything and man can do and vice versa but the tone of voice for me was off. It might be because I am so used to reading about stubborn, angry, complicated boys so I am not used to this tone of voice coming from a teenage boy. So maybe I shouldn’t add this to the dislike pile but maybe try to say that it seemed off to me.
Anyways with all of that being said there was one more thing I did not like and that was not knowing what happened with West and his father. Did his father change? Did he stay the same? I wanted a little more information on what happened with that relationship.

It was left open but other than those two thing this book was good! Very well-written for a debut novella/book (trust me I have read debut novels that were AWFUL) and I think YA-loving people everywhere will enjoy this book as well.

This book will be LIVE on May 15th and if you like a cute YA love story mixed with sarcastic/weird teenage characters then I suggest you read this book...

SWoOoON-WoRThY ThursDAY!!!

Swoon-Worthy Directions
  • Grab your current/just read book
  • Turn to a swoon worthy moment
  • Post it and make sure to provide details of where
  • Make sure to let everyone know what books it is from so they can enjoy it as WELL

Ok if you haven't been keeping up with me then you don't know BUT if you have then YOU know that I have been living in the magical world of The Premonition Series by the talented Amy Bartol, so this SWOOOOONNN WORTHY Thursday is going to have a SWOOOON moment from each of the four books...
Now, this is a hard one to type because there were soooo many freaking swoon-worthy, panty-dropping, moments in each book that it is REALLLLYYYYY HARD to pick one from each.. BUUUUTT I have accepted the challenge and must persevere..

Inescapable:
Reed’s face inches closer to mine on the pillow as he says, “Let me try to explain something to you, Evie. All of these years that I have been here, it is as if I have been sleeping. I have to always pretend to be something that I am not— pretend to be human. When I am not pretending to be human, then I am hunting evil, vicious angels who want nothing more than to…” his voice trails off and there is hollowness in his tone that reflects the loneliness of his existence. “But now, I am awake, for the first time in my existence, and not only am I awake, but I feel flames when you are near me. You have changed things for me. There is no reason to pretend around you. If I had to live without you now… now that I know what I have been missing…” The need in his voice makes me want to promise him anything, give him anything, just to fill that void in him. “I cannot go back to sleep, Evie. You are the only thing that makes me want to live. If you leave here, if you ascend to Paradise, or even if you are cast into the abyss, or taken there by the Fallen… I will have to follow you, no matter where you go. Even if I have to pursue you into the dark… if you cease to be, then so will I. You are my sin and my redemption.”
(pp. 308-310) Kindle Edition.

Intuition:
Evie: “I have thought a lot about you and the way that you can hear my heart. You said it sings to you, like the call of the Sirens to a sailor at sea. I think it sings to you because you were listening with your lonely heart and it calls to you because it is meant for you. I’m still here… I would’ve given up without you. You’re why I survived.
(164-167) Kindle Edition.

Indebted:
Reed: “I would be here without any of that. I’m here because every time she smiles, it’s like Paradise opening up to shine upon me. I’m here because of the way she loves me with no reservations. She doesn’t hold anything back, but gives it all to me as if there was no one else like me in the universe. She has no idea that she alone is the unique being,”
 (4855-4858) Kindle Edition.

Incendiary:
Reed: "Her heart begins to sing to me, the Siren’s song that’s calling me to shipwreck. I go to it willingly. When her lips meet mine, I know I’m lost, I’m found— I’m home".
(7880-7882).Kindle Edition.

Merch Girl (ARC) by Rebecca Lewis

I got the honor of reading this YA (ARC) novel by the talented Rebecca Lewis
Here is the background on this book:

Merch Girl

Synopsis: Seventeen-year-old Lacey Kind doesn’t have the guts to talk to cute boys, isn’t a size two, and would rather stay home and listen to music than go to a party. But in the summer before her first year of college, she ends up thousands of miles away from home, in the back of a tour bus, underneath the half-naked body of the hottest teen rock star in the country.

When Lacey and her best friend Trina sneak into a Boston nightclub to see their favorite band, they not only get to watch their rock gods perform for the first time, but score a chance to meet the band too. Lacey’s heart races as she comes face-to-face with her idol, nineteen-year-old lead singer, Logan Shire.

The girls charm their way into being hired to sell merchandise on Lansdowne’s first summer tour. As “merch girls” Lacey and Trina quickly find themselves transported from their ordinary, suburban life to an exhilarating few months on the road. But they soon realize that life on the road isn’t always a smooth ride...

My Thoughts

Really LOVE the cover I think it compliments the book very nicely.

This book had everything to make it YA-successful.
The characters were well-rounded, there was a little drama, a mean girl, and a cute little love story.
Lacey is a shy, smart, sweet teenager with a best friend Trina who is her total opposite. Together they make quite the duo.
They both end up going on tour with one of their favorite bands and have the best time of their lives.
They get to interact with fans, hang out with the band, and go to exclusive VIP parties... what 17 year old girl would not love that?  While they are on tour they sell the band's merchandise, which is where the term Merch girl comes from.
Heck I am 25 and I would love to travel around the USA with one of my favorite singers, that would totally make my life.
While on tour Lacey gets quite cozy with one band member in particular and Trina gets just as cozy with another member as well.
You are now seeing how Lacey handles not only having a boyfriend for the first time ever, but having a famous boyfriend who attracts more than enough female attention.
You watch Lacey grow from a shy girl to a girl who can stand up for herself even to her best friend and boyfriend.

BUT what happens after the tour ends? Do they stay together or go their separate ways?

This book is definitely aimed more at the pre-teen/teen age group and it is an easy/appropriate read for them.
I enjoyed reading this book BUT I thought it needed more excitement. It was too happily ever after, rainbows, and sunshine for my taste.

If you want to check this book out for yourself it will go LIVE on May 4th...

Author Information:

Rebecca Lewis is the author of the Young Adult novel, Merch Girl, and a lover of all things music! She's been writing stories since middle school and penned her first fanfic about a semi-popular boyband in 1997.

A Brand New Ending (ARC)

"We are never so defenseless against suffering as when we love."

I was given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review..
Thank-You for giving me this opportunity and here is what I thought of
A Brand New Ending by S.A. Rolls...

Description from Amazon:

Phoenix Harper never imagined her life would come to this: A life not worth living anymore.

After a failed suicide attempt, Phoenix is sent to be observed at a local psychiatric hospital. There she meets Braeden Harris, a hospital aide with his own haunting past. Not long after their first encounter, they feel an unexplainable pull towards one another. Will fate bring them together, or will outside forces tear them apart?

                                                 My thoughts:

I really liked this book.. I ALMOST loved it buuutt the writing was a little off for me BUT that didn't deter from it being a really good book.

It was different from the normal books I have read lately and that is what I did LOVE about it. I was hooked from the very beginning, then a couple chapters in I was still hooked, it started to drag a little bit, and then the ending completely threw a curve-ball to my face!! I was like WHOA did that really happen???.. WTF...Am I reading the same book???, I was not expecting that ending and then I started to understand a lot of the magical elements that seemed to happen in the book and it all started to make sense.. While reading the book I was like OMG that is not even plausible, how can that happen, this book isn't real life but alas at the end I finallly got it and I was pleasantly surprised. I love books that can surprise me and this one definitely did!
(You have to read the book to know what I am talking about)

Phoenix tries to commit suicide but with the failed attempt, it lands her in a psychiatric hospital where she meets the lovely Braeden. They have an instant connection, it wasn't love at first sight or anything but it was different, like there was a pull towards one another but they couldn't explain why it was happening.

After they try fighting the connection towards one another they finally give in and are together. There are a lot of twists, turns, drama, swoon-worthy, and panty dropping moments after they officially become a couple and you are rooting for them to stay together to the very end of the book. You know that Braeden is not only Phoenix's first love but he is the one person in her life that makes her feel safe and that is something she has never felt before in her life. Braeden never let anyone in after the tragedies happened in his past but Phoenix wormed her way into his heart and soul and his new mission was to always keep her there and to keep her safe.

I loved the other characters in the book as well. Rain and Donovan were my next two favorite characters besides the main ones. The only character I did not get was Braeden's dad. He confused me because he could be so compassionate and sweet towards Phoenix's but with his son he seemed very distant and cold.

If you want to read a good book with quirky characters, swoon-worthy moments, drama, and a twist at the end then I suggest you pick this book up now, you will not regret reading it!!!

Snippets from the book:

"It's too late for me, Braeden. I am broken beyond repair," I say, my throat tight. "You deserve better. You deserve someone you can touch. Who has the capability to…feel."
 (Kindle Locations 2077-2078)

Love is hard. Love is rough. It will viciously rip open your chest, leaving your heart vulnerable. At times things will be perfect, and at others they will be worse than you can even imagine. But, in the end, even the bad turns into the good."
 (Kindle Locations 3153-3155)

"Death captures the dying, but sorrow steals from those left behind,"
 (Kindle Location 3493)

I have a hard time regretting the decision that brought me here. He was my fate. He is my destiny.
 (Kindle Locations 4625-4626)

I give this book a 4/5

True Love Story by Willow Aster

I really liked this book and here is why:

Description from Amazon:

Sparrow Fisher is transforming. No longer dressed up in antiquated clothes and ideals, she is finally trying on her freedom.

Before she moves to New York City, she meets Ian Sterling, a musician Sparrow has dreamed about since she first saw him. The attraction is instant, but their relationship isn't so simple.

Over a five year span, Sparrow and Ian run into each other in unusual places. Each time, Sparrow has to decide if she can trust him, if he feels the same for her, and finally, if love is really enough.

My Thoughts

This book takes place through 5 years and you are in present tense and then the author takes you back to memories of the love between the two characters before coming back to the present again at the end.

In the beginning Sparrow and Ian are on a plane and you can tell while you are reading that they both still care about each other. You are wondering what happened to them and why are they not together anymore.
This is when the author goes back to the past and this starts the love story of
Sparrow and Ian

Sparrow is a preacher's daughter who has always lived by the rules and what other people wanted her to do. Her only saving grace was her best friend Tessa who would pull Sparrow out of her bubble and persuade her to enjoy life.
Tessa and Sparrow end up going to college together in New York, which is the furthest place away from everything they know and are used too.
This is where Sparrow tries to find herself, her style, and what she wants out of life now that she is not living under her strict parent's rules.
Before leaving for college Sparrow meets a musician named Ian who turns her whole world and beliefs upside down.
Ian is so hot and cold when it comes to Sparrow that she has a hard time thinking straight about whether or not he is actually into her.
After meeting Ian in California and not hearing from him the whole time she has been living in NY, they end up being in the same place while she is on vacation with her family. Yet again Sparrow is left wondering what Ian really thinks of her and her mind is left spinning, not knowing which way is up.
After a bunch of back and forth, they finally become a couple and it is a heart warming relationship, full of love, happiness, love-making, and passion...
BUT things go horribly wrong and Sparrow is left heart broken.
Ian tries to win her love back by writing her a letter almost every day, pouring his heart out to her in the letters and also in his music. You are left feeling so sorry for both of the characters and you are not sure whether to root for the relationship or feel they would be better apart.

This book is so heart-breakingly honest.
It shows what can happen between two people when they fall madly, truly, deeply, in love and then lies and betrayals take all of that love and throw it away, leaving behind a shattered heart and empty soul.

If you have ever been in love and have had your heart broken you will understand this story.
It is a great read and I feel I can recommend it to everyone and feel as if you will like it as much or even more than I did.

Here are some Snippets from the book:

"Your kisses didn't feel like friendship" "I'm sorry for that. Turns out I'm a bit of a kiss whore".
Page 132

"I've only wanted you, and you keep leaving me on the roller coaster by myself"
Page 149

"I can't... I can't be with you. I don't know how I'm gonna live without you. But I don't think I can live with you either. You have broken me.", my voice gives out. "I don't see how I can ever trust you again."
Page 324

"Tell me you don't still love me, Sparrow, and I won't touch you. Tell me you don't still need me, that your body doesn't still ache for mine. Tell me"
Page 368

I give this book a 4/5
